The Radboudumc,or Radboud University Medical Centre in full, is an academic hospital in Nijmegen that collaborates with Radboud University. The hospital has around 1100 beds, approximately 11,000 employs and sees some 100,000 patients annually. It offers various courses to over three thousand students. The Radboudumc has several entrances with different addresses. The complex is monitored and secured from a central control room located on the complex.
In 2019, a start was made with the implementation of a new control room management system. In 2020, this system will become the basis for information and communication during calamities, among other things. In the new control room we will strengthen cooperation with the control rooms of the Information Management (ICT) and Property Maintenance (building management) departments. In order to better support the users of the control room in their work, we have been commissioned to provide new workstations, among other things. In order to make a well-considered choice, Radboud opted for our consultancy approach.
In order to come to an effective design, we offer the possibility to come to a fitting concept with the help of our consultants. To this end, we have developed patented design tools, such as TUNASSĀ® analysis, which translate the operational workflow and tasks into a functional design in a quick and structured manner. This approach enables us, together with the stakeholders, to design the actual furniture needed and the new layout of the room(s) where people can work effectively, safely and healthily. In addition to the spatial layout, we also look at walking and escape routes, viewing and communication lines, work processes, lighting, climate control and acoustics. In about 85% of the projects we deliver, clients have opted for our consultancy approach.
Radboud had its control room adapted on the basis of the final design from TUNASSĀ® and we designed and produced the desks with personal video walls and all the other furniture. The colour schemes and materialisation have given the room a calm and warm atmosphere.
